Plan: Define success criteria (e.g., “90% of vendors onboarded within 10 business days”). Identify root causes through stakeholder interviews — perhaps access provisioning is the bottleneck. Draft a revised workflow with clear RACI assignments and automated checklists.

Do: Pilot the new process with two low-risk vendors over a two-week period. Track cycle time, error rates, and stakeholder satisfaction.

Check: Compare results against baseline metrics. If onboarding time dropped from 14 to 9 days but compliance reviews took longer, you’ve identified a trade-off. Gather feedback from legal, IT, and procurement.

Act: Adjust the workflow to parallelize compliance checks with access provisioning. Document the updated SOP, train regional teams, and schedule a 30-day review. Then loop back to Plan with the next bottleneck.
